Returning Character Applications
We’re glad to have you back! Some things have changed since Save the Earth; a year’s passed, and the invasion left some dangerous consequences to deal with. If you’re not already familiar with what’s going on, you might want to hit up the FAQ before you app back in.
Your application is shorter, since we’ve already made you do the hard work the first time around. Fill out this form and comment here with it using the journal you used in Save the Earth; we’ll look it over and see about getting you into the game. Please make sure your info post is up to date with your character’s entire set of Echoes! If you’re changing journals, post with your original journal, and then reply to the acceptance comment with the new one; your info post needs to be in the old journal for acceptance, but you can move to the new one once you’re in.
You can only use this application through one month after the game opens! After that, you’ll re-apply like you were in Raise the Earth before, but you’re submitting a full application - and that means personality and history need to sync up with what you’re playing again.
UPDATED: If you are bringing back a character's doppelganger, please reply to your reclaim with another copy of the IC section of the form for them, including the things that are different for them! Doppelgangers need their own journals for Raise the Earth - reply with that journal, please! Numbered and doppelganger claims will be reviewed and judged separately, but if the original character's reclaim isn't approved, the doppelganger won't be playable until it is. Doppelgangers don't consume a character slot - they share with the original character.
Fill out this application and comment to this post. Please put your character's preincarnation's name and canon in the title!

Contact: (Some way we can get in touch with you. A journal, an IM account, Plurk, whatever.)
Current characters: (Are you playing any other characters here right now? Include applications you're putting in at the same time, and reclaims you have in the works.)
IC Information
Name: (Preincarnation and reincarnation, if they're not the same - identify which one's which.)
Canon:
Info Post: (Link your info post from Save the Earth here. If your Echoes are somewhere else, make sure there’s a link in your info post to them!)
Application: (Link your original application, if it’s not in your info post.)
Post-StE Activities: (What has your character been up to since the invasion ended? Characters that were present for the invasion can pick up from there and fill the year since the game ended; if your character wasn’t there for the invasion, pick up from where your character was in the game last.)
Starting Location: (Where is your character based? Locke is dangerous these days, and Vegas is a pile of ruins and volcanic ash. Don’t forget that the Echo barriers are down, so characters can go anywhere in Earth’s orbit! Need ideas? Check the setting page and see what we’ve got.)
Additional Echoes: (You get some more Echoes over the one-year gap between games! You can have up to two additional Echoes by the time Raise the Earth starts; if you’ve got ideas for recurrences, use them for that, but otherwise, they’re plot Echoes with unspecified triggers. Don’t submit them as normal - just put them here in your application, and once we accept you, add them to your info post. If you received Echoes in
betweentheearth, just link them and that'll count.)
Goals for RtE: (Your character’s come a long way since the first pink lights, three years ago. What are their plans here? What are your plans? What kinds of things are you looking to do this time around? Where do you see your character fitting in? Is there anything we can do to help you reach your goals? Like the last game, Raise the Earth has a plot but is heavily player-driven. The things characters do (and want to do) influence the direction of the game! Tell us what’s on your roadmap, and we’ll see what we can do. If you don’t have any specific plans, that’s fine too. This section doesn’t affect how we judge your application.)
Additional Information: (Anything else we need to know? Are there significant changes since the StE finale that we might have missed? Include other information or questions here that might pertain to your application. If there’s nothing else, delete this section.)
Reclaims are OPEN, but don't post them here!
Starting July 8th, please submit reclaims on the applications post!

Current characters: Lazarus Lawliet, and also NPCing a redeemed mafia goon named Luca Dantonio pretty heavily (intending to make him a PC in Raise the Earth!)
IC Information
Name: L Lawliet is the preincarnation, Lazarus "L" Lawliet is the reincarnation
Canon: Death Note
Info Post: Right here
Application: Right here
Post-StE Activities: Lazarus went to Japan following the invasion with the group of refugees from Willow Ridge after its destruction in Locke City. He stayed with Misa for a little while, then attempted to move into one of the available apartments courtesy of Shou with Cesar, but that didn't work out so well. He's on a lot of antipsychotics, and the world's new chaotic state made it even more difficult to get these kinds of drugs, so he spent a few months backsliding and being looked after by Tony, Nathan and Misa. This precipitated breaking up with Cesar after a mutual and amicable agreement that it would be better for both of them in the long run if they didn't batter their historically strained relationship further with the trials of psychosis. Eventually, Tony broke into a pharmacy and stole the prescriptions Lazarus needs to function normally, and he started recovering. Around this time, he was contacted by a mysterious and wealthy benefactor who had secured an isolated plot of land in New Zealand, an area relatively untouched by the invasion and its fallout. He encouraged more vulnerable Numbered to relocate there to be safer, and after a few close brushes with prejudice, hate, and worrisome tension in Japan, Lazarus decided to take the plunge and take those closest to him to the hamlet dubbed Shepherd's Haven, leaving an open invitation to anyone who might like to follow either temporarily or for the long term. He's spent the remaining time in between Save the Earth and Raise the Earth gathering resources and making the village not only inhabitable, but comfortable; this has helped to fill the hole left behind by the destruction of his school, and to make him feel like he's preparing for a future in which Numbered might have to isolate themselves as completely as possible to escape an increasingly more hostile non-Numbered population.
Starting Location: Firmly established in Shepherd's Haven, New Zealand
Additional Echoes: Tier 2- Understanding and speaking Spanish, Tier 1- A fully outfitted and operational ambulance
Goals for RtE: I spent much of Save the Earth taking Lazarus from someone defined by his issues to someone who can stand apart from them on his own two feet. He's gone from a navel-gazing and self-pitying, burned-out introvert to someone much more outwardly focused and motivated, and, ironically for someone so antisocial canonically, he's very driven to protect those closely associated with and loyal to him. Being Numbered has quite literally saved his life and he is intensely dedicated to providing for, protecting, and planning for their future. He's not superpowered, but he's actually pretty fantastic at bringing people together and uniting them toward a common cause. I'd like to continue this long-burning arc in Raise the Earth and develop him into a true leader whose sincerity lends him charisma and differentiates him from his cold, calculating and selfish preincarnate.
Additional Information: I'm also apping Luca (the redeemed Mafia goon) as a player character reincarnate, and keeping Lazarus' doppelganger around in America. I'd like to give him his own journal and treat him like an NPC.
Doppel!L
Name: Ryuzaki
Canon: Save the Earth
Info Post: N/A
Post-StE Activities: After the Invasion, Lazarus' Doppelganger disappeared. It's not known whether he's living or dead, but he hasn't done anything to draw notice to himself or that's relevantly impacted things between games. He's being lying very low.
Starting Location: Somewhere in the continental US between Locke City and Las Vegas. He hitchhikes a fair amount and stays where he can and dumpster dives to survive, seeming not to be very interested in putting down roots or earning money.
Additional Echoes: N/A
Goals for RtE: Ryuzaki is Lazarus' doppelganger, which means that he's his opposite in most ways. While he's crafty, he's not particularly educated or book-smart. Lazarus tends toward the withdrawn, serious and melancholic side of things, and Ryuzaki is cheerful and takes every opportunity to make a sexual innuendo or hit on someone. Lazarus is ambitious, and Ryuzaki doesn't really plan for the future or worry about the consequences of his actions. Lazarus cares about people and wants to improve their lives, while Ryuzaki is happy to destroy lives and relationships if it's entertaining for a little while. He's not without conflict and insecurities, though; he deeply yearns to be "real" and have a deeper purpose, which is what he's currently searching for. This is likely to bring him to the west eventually, and I think he'll happily fall in with Keldek given the chance.
Additional Information: His journal is
